if you didn’t love Balthazar you’re wrong

fun fact: when Titanic came out a company made necklaces that looked like the one Rose wore and put full page ads in Sunday newspapers. The model they got to help sell this Titanic tie in was

Jensen Ackles

When Balthazar unsunk the ship to prevent the movie from being made he also stopped young Mr. Ackles from posing for these ads

Can we just like pause about this because Niska is all like, “Ha ha, yes, brilliant evil plan of making her choose and compromising her emotionally.” We all know he was betting on Zoe choosing Mal. Within the context of this episode, we know it was set up to taunt Zoe into choosing Mal, but being the badass she is, Zoe doesn’t even let Niska finish. She chooses Wash and turns to Niska, basically going, “If you thought you could make me choose my captain over my own husband, you are a sorely and sadly mistaken sexist asshole.”

This scene is SO important. Maleficent is with someone she trusts, someone she considers a friend. And then the next thing she knows, she wakes up in pain, bleeding, with her wings burned off. A huge part of her has been destroyed.

Rape is so prominent in our culture that it is in a Disney movie. Maybe not explicitly, but it is very clear what this scene represents and it is so sad.

I fucking cried my eyes out during this scene

AJ even confirmed that this is what this scene was a metaphor for (x) - just because i saw someone say today that this is not what this scene is about

'We were very conscious that it was a metaphor for rape': The actress explained how the scene in which her character has her wings ripped off her body while in a drug-induced sleep had to be something 'so violent and aggressive' that it would make her 'lose all sense of her maternity, her womanhood and her softness'

when a man violates a woman, he cuts off her wings.

I genuinely think it’s because Americans think we’re inherently distrustful.
